Story Midi Health

Healthcare Built for Women, By Experts Who Listen

Midi Health was created because women deserve better healthcare in the years when their bodies, hormones, health risks, and priorities can change dramatically.

We built Midi as a specialized virtual care platform for women, combining experienced clinicians, personalized care, evidence-based medicine, and technology to make high-quality women’s healthcare easier to access.

Our story started with menopause, but the need was much bigger.

Women came to us looking for help with weight changes, sleep, mood, brain fog, sexual health, bone health, skin and hair changes, preventive care, and other concerns that often become more important during midlife. We listened to those needs and continued building a broader model of care around them.

Today, Midi provides specialized virtual care across all 50 states, with a growing team of board-certified clinicians and medical advisors focused on improving healthcare for women.

Why Midi Health Was Created

For too many women, getting answers about their health has meant short appointments, fragmented care, unanswered questions, or being told that difficult symptoms are simply part of getting older.

Midi was created to change that experience.

Our founders saw firsthand how difficult it could be to find knowledgeable care during midlife. Joanna Strober’s own experience with hot flashes, severe night sweats, insomnia, and other symptoms helped spark the idea for Midi. She recognized that women needed a healthcare experience where their symptoms were taken seriously and evaluated as part of the bigger picture.

What began as an effort to improve menopause care quickly became a much larger mission: to modernize healthcare for women throughout midlife and beyond.

The Beginning of Midi

Midi Health was founded in 2021 by Joanna Strober and medical leaders who shared a belief that women needed more specialized care during midlife.

Joanna Strober became Midi’s Co-founder and CEO, while Kathleen Jordan, MD, became Co-founder and Chief Medical Officer. The leadership team brought together healthcare expertise, technology, business experience, and a strong understanding of the gaps women face in traditional care.

The original focus was perimenopause and menopause.

But patients quickly showed us that midlife health could not be separated into one symptom or one hormone.

A woman dealing with hot flashes might also be struggling with sleep. Weight changes might happen alongside changes in metabolism, mood, or activity. Bone health becomes increasingly important with age. Sexual health, cardiovascular health, skin, hair, mental well-being, and preventive care can all become part of the same conversation.

That changed the way we thought about Midi.

We weren’t building only a menopause clinic.

We were building a better model for women’s healthcare.

A Personal Story Helped Start the Movement

Midi’s founding story is closely connected to Joanna Strober’s own experience.

In her mid-40s, Joanna began experiencing hot flashes. Later, severe night sweats began waking her around 3 a.m., followed by prolonged insomnia. At the time, she did not immediately recognize these changes as part of perimenopause because she was still having regular periods.

Her experience made an important problem clear: women can experience significant health changes without having the information, time, or specialized medical support needed to understand what is happening.

That experience helped motivate Joanna to build a company focused on giving women better access to knowledgeable midlife care.

Women’s Healthcare Designed Around the Whole Person

At Midi, we don’t believe a woman’s health can be reduced to a single symptom.

Our clinicians consider the full picture, including symptoms, medical history, medications, health risks, goals, lifestyle factors, and where a patient is in her health journey.

Depending on the reason for care, a personalized Care Plan may include:

  • Hormone-based treatment when medically appropriate

  • Non-hormonal prescription options

  • Weight-management support

  • Lifestyle and nutrition guidance

  • Sleep support

  • Sexual and vaginal health care

  • Support for mood and cognitive symptoms

  • Bone and muscle health considerations

  • Targeted laboratory testing

  • Preventive health guidance

  • Supplement integration when appropriate

  • Cancer survivorship and menopause support

  • AgeWell and longevity-focused care

The goal is not to give every woman the same treatment.

The goal is to understand what she needs and build care around her individual health situation.

We Listen First

Listening is one of the foundations of Midi.

A healthcare visit should give you enough time to explain what has changed, what concerns you, and what you want to improve.

Our clinicians ask about your symptoms, health history, medications, goals, and other factors that may influence your care. They then use that information to discuss appropriate options with you and create a personalized Care Plan.

This approach matters because midlife symptoms rarely exist in isolation.

Sleep problems can affect energy and mood. Hormonal changes can influence symptoms across multiple areas. Weight changes can involve metabolic, hormonal, behavioral, and lifestyle factors.

Understanding those connections helps create a more complete approach to care.

From Menopause Care to Whole Midlife Health

Midi started with perimenopause and menopause because that was where we saw an urgent gap in care.

As more women came to Midi, their questions expanded.

Can you help with my weight?

What can I do about my bone health?

Why has my sleep changed?

What is happening with my skin and hair?

Can you help me understand my preventive health needs?

How can I protect my health as I get older?

Those questions helped shape the next chapter of Midi.

Today, our care areas include general health, perimenopause, menopause, weight management, AgeWell and longevity, and cancer and survivorship. We also provide care around concerns such as hot flashes, sleep, sexual wellness, mood and memory, hair and skin, weight changes, and bone, muscle, and joint health.

Expert Clinicians at the Center of Care

Technology can make healthcare easier to access, but people remain at the center of Midi.

Our clinical team includes more than 550 board-certified experts caring for women across all 50 states. Midi also works with medical advisors and women’s health specialists who help shape the clinical protocols behind care.

Our leadership and clinical teams bring expertise across women’s health, menopause, primary care, oncology, mental health, sexual health, cardiovascular health, obesity medicine, and other areas relevant to midlife care.

This clinical foundation helps us build care around current medical knowledge while keeping the patient experience personal.

Clinician-Led Care With Technology

Midi is also building a new model of healthcare by combining experienced clinicians with AI-driven clinical intelligence.

The purpose of technology is not to replace the clinician.

It is to support clinicians by helping make specialized knowledge, clinical protocols, and healthcare information more accessible within the care experience.

Our model is designed to reduce unnecessary administrative work and give clinicians more opportunity to focus on the patient.

We believe technology should make healthcare more human, not less.

Our Commitment to Evidence-Based Care

Healthcare decisions should be grounded in reliable medical information and appropriate clinical judgment.

Midi’s clinical protocols are developed with guidance from medical advisors who have extensive experience in women’s midlife health. Our approach continues to evolve as medical research, treatments, and clinical guidance change.

We also recognize that healthcare is not one-size-fits-all.

A treatment that may be appropriate for one woman may not be appropriate for another. That’s why our clinicians consider individual health history, risks, symptoms, medications, goals, and other relevant factors before recommending treatment.

Our Core Values

Our values influence how we care for patients, how our teams work together, and how we continue improving Midi.

Listening

We listen carefully to understand what women are experiencing and what matters most to them. Good care begins with understanding the person behind the symptoms.

Alacrity and Tenacity

Healthcare problems can be complicated. We approach challenges with persistence, curiosity, and a commitment to finding better solutions for patients and clinicians.

Inclusion, Access and Collaboration

Specialized women’s healthcare should be easier to access. We work to expand access through virtual care, insurance coverage, employer partnerships, and collaboration across healthcare organizations.

Humility

Medicine is constantly changing, and we don’t have every answer. We stay open to new evidence, acknowledge when something can be improved, and keep learning.

Ingenuity and Creativity

When existing healthcare systems do not meet the needs of women or clinicians, we look for better ways to solve the problem. Innovation is part of how we continue building Midi.

These values are part of the foundation described by Midi on its official About Us page.

Making Specialized Care Easier to Access

Access has always been an important part of our mission.

Midi provides virtual care across all 50 states. We are in-network with many major PPO health plans, although coverage depends on the individual plan and benefits. Self-pay options are also available for eligible services.

Our goal is to make specialized women’s healthcare available without requiring patients to travel to a specialty clinic or wait for an appointment that may be months away.

Virtual care allows women to meet with their clinicians from home while continuing care through follow-up visits.

Our Care Model

Getting started with Midi is designed to be straightforward.

1. Start With Your Health Needs

You begin by sharing information about your symptoms, health history, medications, concerns, and goals.

2. Meet With Your Midi Clinician

Your virtual visit gives you time to discuss what has changed and ask questions about your health.

3. Review Your Options

Your clinician considers your individual health information and discusses appropriate treatment and care options.

4. Build Your Care Plan

Your Care Plan may combine prescription treatment, non-prescription approaches, lifestyle support, testing, supplements, or referrals depending on your needs.

5. Continue With Follow-Up Care

Midlife health can change over time. Follow-up visits allow your clinician to review progress, address new concerns, and adjust your Care Plan when appropriate.

What We Care For

Midi’s care has grown well beyond one condition.

Our current care areas include:

Perimenopause

Support for symptoms and health changes that can occur during the menopause transition.

Menopause

Personalized care for menopause symptoms, hormone therapy when appropriate, non-hormonal options, and longer-term health considerations.

Weight Management

Care that looks at weight changes alongside metabolic health, lifestyle factors, medications, hormones, and other individual considerations.

AgeWell and Longevity

Support focused on healthy aging, preventive care, and long-term health priorities.

General Health

Care for broader health concerns that may become important during midlife.

Cancer and Survivorship

Specialized support for menopause-related concerns and other health needs affecting cancer survivors and women at increased risk.

These are the current core care areas presented by Midi.

More Than Treating Symptoms

We believe good healthcare should look beyond the symptom that brought you through the door.

A woman who comes to us because of hot flashes may also need help understanding sleep, vaginal health, mood, bone health, or cardiovascular risk.

Someone seeking weight management may have questions about metabolic health, medications, nutrition, strength, sleep, or hormone changes.

Someone going through cancer treatment or survivorship may need care that takes both their medical history and midlife symptoms into account.

Our job is to listen, connect the pieces, and help create a plan that makes sense for the individual.

Growing to Meet Women’s Needs

Midi has grown significantly since its founding.

The current company reports that more than 450,000 women have trusted Midi with their care. Midi also reports a team of 550+ board-certified clinicians serving women across all 50 states.

In February 2026, Midi announced a Series D financing round of $100 million that valued the company at more than $1 billion. The company said the funding would support the next phase of its mission to build a comprehensive, AI-enabled healthcare platform for women.

Growth, however, is not the reason we exist.

The reason is the patient who finally gets an answer.

The woman who understands what is happening to her body.

The patient who finds a treatment option that works for her.

The woman who finally has someone listening to the full story instead of focusing on one symptom.

That is the progress that matters most to us.

What Our Patients Tell Us

The impact of better care is personal.

Midi currently reports that 95% of patients report improvement in perimenopause and menopause symptoms after at least two months of Midi care. Individual results vary, and these results should not be interpreted as a guarantee of treatment outcomes.

Every patient has a different health history and different goals.

Our responsibility is to provide informed medical care, explain available options, and support each woman as she makes decisions about her health.

Our Vision for the Future

We believe women deserve healthcare that keeps pace with their lives.

Midlife is not a single condition. It is a long and important part of life that can involve changes in hormones, metabolism, sleep, mental health, sexual health, bone health, cardiovascular health, and preventive care.

Our vision is to create a healthcare experience where women can access specialized expertise without having to navigate disconnected systems for every concern.

We are building a model that combines:

  • Experienced women’s health clinicians

  • Evidence-informed clinical protocols

  • Personalized Care Plans

  • Virtual access

  • Insurance-supported care

  • Ongoing follow-up

  • Clinical technology and AI-supported intelligence

  • A broader view of women’s health across midlife and beyond

The goal is simple: better healthcare for women, built around the way women actually experience their health.

Our Story Is Still Being Written

Midi started because women needed someone to listen.

It grew because women needed more than one answer.
